Our 706 diesel acts like it does not get fuel while starting. It doesn"t smoke or cough and when the injection lines are loosened at the injector, no fuel comes out. This is is all with the throttle set wide open. However, the engine will start and run fine with just a small shot of starting fluid while cranking. It doesn"t cough or sputter like there was air in the fuel system or anything. Once started and warm, it will start again with no problem. Is there something wrong in the injection pump that keeps it from delivering fuel at cranking speed? This tractor started without starting fluid for a long time. Also, what is the best way to use starting fluid in an engine with glow plugs?
