I'm planning on splitting my 240U, rolling the rear backwards while keeping the front stationary, and want to make a splitting stand. I need one for the rear . . . it has a Wagner loader on it and I think I can support the tractor's front by only unbolting the loader where it attaches to the rear axle and setting the frame on jack stands. I've searched the archives but only found one photo of a splitting stand. Does anyone have any more images they would post? I'm just looking for ideas.
I planned on putting casters on the bottom of the stand to roll the rear . . . would fixed or rotating casters be best? That is, is it better to roll the rear in a straight line so as not to lose alignment, or is more "steerable" better? My barn has a concrete floor. As you may tell, this is my first "split".
