The lighting wire going to the L terminal can be connected directly to the load side of the Amp meter. The Big screw terminal on the Alternator goes to the same terminal (load side of amp meter. The #2 terminal goes to the big screw terminal also. The #1 terminal should go to a wire attached to a oil pressure switch (purchases at a NAPA store, this switch has two terminals and is open when there is no pressure) "T"ed into your oil pressure gauge or line to the gauge. The other terminal of the switch is connected to the positive battery terminal at the starter switch (where the supply to the amp meter is connected (that big post on the switch with the battery pos cable hooked to it.)) THis setup causes the alternator to start charging as soon as the oil pressure is up., and stops charging when the engine is off. No diodes or other stuff needed. I would put a 70 amp Fuse link in the wire going to the Amp Meter from the start switch. As mentioned below, do not connect anything to the ignition. JimN
