Take it back, there are two different starters but eiether will work provided they have put the correct drive in it. Difference is in the drive end housing. I have run into rebuilts where they had wrong drive in,(different number of teeth) switched drives and worked and then many years later put on different starter with other drive and it worked fine. Hard to tell by looking at the starter but if you could do some fine measurements you can tell the difference. Ring gear is same on 263 and 291.Hy Capacity lists the two different starters, one for 263 and one for 291 Now, it up to you to argue with the parts man.
