noncompos, Just wondering what all engines your catalogs show for the 2606. Mine has what appears by the paint (the industrial tractor is all yellow except for the bright red engine) to be a replacement engine. I've kinda assumed it is a C-263 by the larger carb size (IH carb with 1 3/8" throat while most others have a 1 1/4" throat). I haven't been able to match the block casting numbers to anything. The I&T manual lists for the 606, 2606 a C-221 with a 1 1/4" throat on the carb and also lists for the 560, 660 a C-263 with a 1 3/8" throat on the carb. That is how I arrived at assuming it was a C-263.
I can dig out the block casting number if anyone can match it. The case dealer couldn't through their system. Thanks.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
