I took off the carb this afternoon, split the halves, and dumped all of the nasty stuff out. Got some fresh gasoline and let a little flow...also some nasty stuff out of that. Then I had clear gas and got the tractor running smoothly on about 1/4 choke. It still isn't 100% right, but good enough for me to drive it around a little bit. Throttle and choke cables are still not working smoothly. I pitted it against the sod in once place and tore out a nice chunk...perfect!
