One requires the external resistor, and will say "Use with external resistor." The other has an internal resistor, and will say "With internal resistor." At least, they should on the package.
The 12V coil that requires an external resistor is exactly the same as a 6V coil.
Why do they call the coil 12V if it requires an extra resistor? Probably to simplify things for less mechanical folks with early 12V vehicles. It doesn't make sense to some people to buy a 6V coil for a 12V vehicle.
If your H runs fine, leave the resistor. The coil will burn up if it's the type that requires an external resistor, and you remove the resistor.
