Make sure you place the regulating valve and related spring back in. The size of the gasket may have a bearing on what tension the spring had on the regulating valve but I don't see how since the spring is pretty strong anyway. Stranger things have happen :o)might find a thiner gasket, hope you didn't put the oil pan gasket on with anything other than a little grease to hold it in place.
