Case went to Cummins in the late 70s or early 80s and asked them to build a motor capable of so much power, torque, and several other requirements for use in their industrial equipment. That is where the B series was born, and one of the requirements was that they had to run tilted in any direction at 45 degrees or more.
If you ever see a 7488, look closely at the rearend, externally, they are the same as the magnum.
