I started the SH tonight!!! She lit right up with a ton of oil pressure. Two problems. One, I forgot to plug the hole for the dipstick that I am no longer using and got some oil slung out for a minor mess. It is about a 1/4" hole, no threads. Obviously I don't want to play around with drills and taps at this point. Any suggestions on how to plug it? How about a small cork stopper?? Of more concern is the fact that the generator does not seem to be charging. It is completely rebuilt with new field coils etc. The ammeter and voltage regulator are also new. I polarized it. I rechecked all of the wiring and it appears to be correct. Without the lights on the ammeter needle sits just a whisker left of straight up and with the lights on it reads about 10 amps of discharge. Where do I start???
