Roger, I put new spark plugs in, and they appear to have spark. When I took the new plugs out after it didn't start, they had a film of black carbon on all of them and were dry, so I'm assuming that spark and fuel delivery are OK. One thing I noticed that is weird: I have battery ignition, and when I took off the dist. cap, I noticed I can turn the rotor several degrees either way. Is this much free play normal, due to the advance mechanism, or could this be my problem? Do you recall how much rotor play is in your TD-18 distributor?
