OK so I tried a few things with my 140 to see if it"s the clutch or transmission, as suggested here (thanks Haas, Hugh & Janicholson), but still no dice. I found that one of the clutch levers had come half off and was twisted, so after spending saturday doing surgery on it, finally got that lever straight and repinned. (What a bear without taking the clutch/tractor apart)
Janicholson suggested I play w/the PTO with it in gear and not, so I did that - in gear, it just spins and the tractor doesn"t move, so I am assuming it"s either the clutch not dis-engaging (would like to lube it anyway, but can"t find the grease nipple inside the "dust cover" as per the manual - anybody got a map?), or as Hugh suggested, perhaps the transmission coupling has come off.
Hugh, have you or anyone else here attempted to get at the transmission coupling *without* splitting the tractor? Is this possible? How time consuming would you say it is to get at it?
