Hey guys -
Per the advice from a thread I started two nights ago, the clutch assembly was taken completely off the flywheel and disassembled. Both surfaces of the flywheel and opposite plate are in good shape. The plate with the clutch facings are in good shape too(about 1/8" of material left).
Upon removing the tension and taking out the springs, I found 2 springs per hole. A smaller one inside of the bigger one. The smaller one was wound in the opposite direction, so someone was thinking when they were put in (keeps the coils from getting tangled).
Nothing was really set up or rusted tight on the whole assembly, but now I'm wondering if someone added an additional spring, or if it is supposed to be there. This would explain why it was so tough to release with the foot pedal.
