Hi all,
I got my carb kit from Rice yesterday. I cleaned up the carburetor and put in the kit. The tractor runs a little better than it did, but its still not right. The Zenith K5 carburetor has 3 adjustment screws, one is for the low idle speed, and the other two I believe are air/fuel screws. The problem is, I can't get it tuned right, its either getting too much gas or too little, it runs down the road in road gear perfectly fine, but it does not idle well when I can't adjust it right, the air/or fuel screw that is on the top half of the carb does not hardly change the way the tractor runs, even if it is turned all the way in, I can even take that screw out while its running with no change. I cleaned a lot of passages with brake cleaner, compressed air and a torch tip cleaning kit. The only passages I did not clean are the ones near that adjustment screw, thaey are capped off with small brass plugs. My carb kit from Rice Equipment came with 2 of those plugs. MY QUESTION: How do you get them plugs out? I want to clean those passages as I bet thats the problem. The plugs are threaded in , but that are flat on top, no place the put a screwdriver on them, :? :? How do you get these out??? I'll probably use my F-20 in the tractor pull if I can get this carb figured out.
