I saw your other thread, what is your Super A serial number? In late 1953 those final drives changed a bit, brakes became same as 100, 130 and 140. The case hardening of the gears changed as well, they are harder. This could be your problem. I have a blue ribbon service manual for a 140. In discussion with a fellow couple months back, his Super A was not exactly same, re spacers and washers on that axle. I haven't sorted it all out yet, but it sounds like changes were made couple times in 53.
There were more changes made to this little offset tractor during Super A production, than during the rest of the 40 year production of A, SA, 100, 130 and 140, this includes model change.
