I'm trying to resurrect an old B414 and the steering box is totally knackered. Parts are somewhat unavailable and rather expensive. A new box is available but is $600. I'm thinking that if I'm going to that much effort etc that I might be better off converting it to hydrostatic steering. I'm thinking I will plumb a rotary hand metering valve into the existing hydraulic system (via a priority valve) and build a new drag link incorporating a hydraulic cylinder with an appropriate rear mount. Does anyone know what the max pressure and flow rate of the system on the tractor is? Also any good ideas to find out how much force it will require to turn the front wheels so I can size my cylinder appropriately? Any other thoughts and ideas would be great. Thanks, Sam
