Today I went in to my local dealer to get a set of hydraulic oil filters for my Farmall gas 504. I was expecting to get the two "donut" filters with gaskets. The parts guy said they no longer carry the "donut" filters and the substitution is an oval filter with a pressure relief bypass valve. Well I bought it and took it home. I was just looking in my I&T IH-201 manual on page 8 & 9 and Fig. IH1310 and it indicates that the filter w/ bypass valve should be discarded and replaced with the two "donut" filters. Any bits of wisdom to pass along to an amateur?
