On my 1940 H I changed it over to a 1 wire 12 volt system with a ballist for the distributer no problems. On this 1942 A I have now I am confused. I know it is a 6 volt positive ground system and has a nag instead of a distributer and the battery is wired that way. Gen is charging lights work all is good there now for the problem. I have had to put it on a battery charger 2 times now battery will not turn over the starter. Starter rebuilt, big wires. How does the gen. keep the battery charged? Positive battery wire grounded to the body, Neg. battery wire to top of starter. No other wires to the battery. Also can I use a 12 volt jump box hooked to the battery cables only without causing problems?
