I had the same problem with my 40 H, I dedided to convert the system to the newer style drive which is much stronger as I still use the tractor. Changing the countershaft is the hard part, you will do major surgury on it before you find it in the bottom of the trans. I bought the rear section complete of a 48 & had everything I needed to do it. Works great now.
