Try replacintg the mag cap. There may be a crack or some moisture damage in it. If that doesen't work, check the cam for the points to see if it has a bad lobe for #2 plug. You could then regap the points using the lobe for the #2 plug and see if that solves the problem. I agree, this is a little bit strange. Since you will be inside the mag, I'd replace the condenser as insurance. Bad ones cause some strange things to happen. Good luck,
