I need a little help working on my International 404.I was going to check the transmisson fluid level & discovered I had no inspection plug...hole was filled with dried dirt..what size plug do I need & i would assume I need to drain the the fluid & replace with about 7 gallons per my owners manual.I have never done this before so any hints would be welcome. The plug appears to be about 1/2"...is it a pipe thread or something else? Will the fluid sold at Tractor supply be OK? The tractor is new to me .....I have stopped the oil leaks & am carefully looking at everything before I do anything with the tractor other than start it occasionally...oviously I am not a mechanic & learning OJT.I do not not know the history of the machine, but it appears not much maintanace has been done in the past & if the hour meter is correct it has almost 1000 hours.
