Greetings. My dad has a IH 5088 that he bought about a year ago from a local IH dealer. The tractor had been "redone", although I don"t know exactly what that means.
Yesterday, we went to use it and it would barely more - kind of jerking forward. It didn"t matter what gear we tried. It was cold (for us in South Texas 40 degrees). We checked the hydraulic fluid levels and then added a bit, although it was pretty close to full anyway. After about 20 or 30 minutes, it started working normally.
The tractor is also making a little noise in the tranny area - sounds like a bad bearing to me.
I read the archives about the clutch pack problems and upgrade, but didn"t see how to tell if the tractor has been upgraded. Does this sound like a clutch problem? I am not familiar with the tractor and any help is most appreciated.
