Casting code trivia

I have been researching the casting codes and serial numbers for Australian made IHC tractors, AM, AW6, AWD6, AW7, AM7 AOS6 etc etc.
The casting code format is day/month/letter/ (unlike US month*day*letter)
I believe the letter code starts with 'A' in 1947 although I have not been able to prove this yet.
The serial number format appears to be the same as the US format, same prefix and postfix letters and numbers starting at 501. If anyone is able to help me further or confirm the above, I would like to hear from you.
