The tradeoff in power and efficiency on a diesel is complexity and cost to repair. If you can get the injector pump rebuilt and reinstalled for a mere $1000 you are getting off easy.
If you feel the tractor is worth less than $1000, then scrap it.
What are all these so called "mechanical pump tricks" that you tried?
