My M runs good, but seems like when it's really time to lug down and keep going, it falls a little short....not terrible, but not quite what it should be. The governor is in good shape (reman.), dist. is working order. Today, I removed carb bowl to see if the previous owner had something switched or something. While apart, I noticed that at the very bottom of the bowl, in-line with the venturi of the carb, there was a hole. It looks like some sort of plug is in the actual openning of the bowl, but there is also a hole in that plug that is approx. a 1/8" in dia. Now I have two questions. First, will that hole cause some vacuum loss as my engine rpm's fall to the point that it makes my engine die off? Second, what is supposed to be there, or what's the fix? Thank you for your knowledge and help.
