On my H, if you look at the generator from the pulley end and with the terminals on top, the armature terminal will be the one on the right. Or if you have a multimeter, do this: Disconnect both wires from the generator. Then measure the resistance from each terminal to the generator frame. The terminal showing the lowest resistance will be the armature terminal. Hope this helps.... PS - The motor does not need to be running when you polarize the generator.
