If it will roll with the clutch down, it is in gear. All the shifting gears except High Gear are sliding gears splined to shafts. High is a sliding spline coupling input to output (direct) If it is in a low gear first or reverse, it would be hard to turn the engine with the wheels. the engine is probably stiff. I will bet the trans has had a shift fork wear out, and get out of place. If the 1-R rail will not move, I bet that that fork is bent, or out of place. Pulling the top shifter cover off might let you see better just what is going on. Jim
