We have done some work on a 47 H that had been sitting in a barn for arond 30 years.
It was very farmer engineered. We have repaired most of the engineering and have done some work on the engine.
It now runs very smoothly and has great power but will not idle down. After more looking and pilfering I surmised that someone else has had this issue as the governor linkage it totally out of adjustment (the one underneath the little cover with the metal tube coming out the top going to the front of the cylinder head) in the direction that I would need to adjust it.
The question is... What is worn or missing that would cause it almost, but not quite return to idle? I can push down on that linkage that goes vertical through the governor housing and make it slow down but then its speeds back up when I let off.
Even with the throttle handle removed and the linkages pushed all the way in the idle position it still idles too high.
