If you haven't torn it down yet ---- sounds like when my Farmall locks into 2 gears at one time while shifting. You have to clutch it to start, and let the clutch out everything just binds up.
The fix is simple --- just unbolt the transmission top (about 6 bolts), lift the top & shifters off, manually put all the gears in Neutral, put Shift Knob in Neutral, and bolt back together.
