sounds like you got a hot wire touching a ground or is the switch the one that came on the A it could be bad or did you switch over to 12 volt and left everything 6 volt / if you are using 12 volt you need a voltage reducer I got mine with a 12 volt and it had one on it and i still use all the old switches but put 12 volt bulbs in Im sure that someone else will have some good input for you just backtrack and recheck everything good luck
