Some places to start - I'm assuming the motor turns over but doesn't start. I would pull a spark plug and make sure you have spark. No spark could be the switch. Also make sure the rotor turns - there is a pin inside the distributor that is part of the drive unit for the distributor - if its sheared off nothing turns and no spark. Its easier to check electrical if you have a meter if you start looking at switches and wiring. If you have spark then I would look for a gas issue. If there is a plug in the carburetor remove it and let the gas run for a minute or so. If it stops flowing you have a plug somewhere - could be the float is stuck, gas line plugged up or possible the inlet in the tank has some junk plugging it. I'd suggest trying these things and get back to us if these things aren't the problem.
