Two days ago While cutting hay with the 460 u the hyd pump started to whine like there was no oil in the system even when I didn't use the hydraulics, then it would stop on its own. I finished the 20 minutes of mowing I had left with the whining happening about 4 more times. My power steering became intermintent but I still had some. I went and changed the Hyd filter and fluid. The round metal screen on the filter was completely blocked with what looked like the orange\red paint found on the inside of the transmission. I changed the filter, cleaned the screen, put in new oil (2 gallons over the full plug), jacked the front end to cycle the oil out of the steering (per the I & T manual) It seemed to be steering good. When I took the jack out it steers hard...as if there is no help from the pump. Am I missing something like cracking a line somewhere to bleed it? I have good hydraulic function of the 2pt. and remotes. I have to rake and bale hay and the field field is hexagonal in shape (lots of turning!)
