Since you have moved the gears you need to make a mark on the mag where the tower of the cap is, Then turning the engine over you can see where the rotor snaps to fire. I like to remove all plugs then engine turns over better putting finger in #1 and watch the rotorwhere it snaps to fire remember the mag fires at TDC when cranking. I do the test when im working with it in a vice then i know the rotor is timed and when installing it will work. New points and condenser can also be faulty their track record isnt what it used to be.
