In my opinion lead additives are a scam. According to manufacturers, the additives will increase life a valve seats and valve faces when using unleaded fuel in older engines. They say older engines do not have hardened seats and guides to withstand operation without lead. However, new engines have the seat cut directly into the head just like older engines and the guides appear to be of the same hardness. Just another scare tactic for unexpirienced comsumers. My 20 old Farmalls run great without any additives. Just my opinion!!
