We have a Farmall Regular that has hot spark and feels like it has good compression. Tractor ran with original E4a mag and died when it got hot so, I assumed it had a bad coil and switched to A F4 that I had as a spare and had been tested. Hand cranked tractor and it started and ran but, was running hot and backfiring so, I figured the timing was retarded and after running a few minutes I shut it down. Before changing timing I tried to hand start and no success, pulled it and started and died. Pulled again and nothing and blew oil out of air cleaner. Put new coil in mag as someone suggested and will only pull start and we ran 5 minutes and it ran fine but, will not crank start. Any ideas what is wrong.?Anyway to check compression? Old timer I took it too says he feels like the compression is good but knows of no way to check with out starter. Thanks for any help!
