Hi all, I'm a new owner of a 1946 Farmall A. It has a magneto which functions great. It also has a starter and a 12V battery. There is no charging setup and no amp/light switch box. I simply top off the battery on a tender every once in awhile.
I'd like to add lights for pulling evening hayrides. What are my options?
I'm thinking of going 12V and getting a 60 amp ammeter. Also the mini 42amp 3-wire alternator looks promising for fit reasons, but I imagine I'll have to come up with a toggle switch separate from the magneto kill switch to excite it, right?
This is looking very expensive because I need everything... old amp box ($15 ebay), grommet ($5), light switch ($43), ammeter ($15), lights($85), light brackets($15), alternator($90-150), wiring harness($158), alternator bracket($55), alternator V-belt($10). Am I missing anything?
Is there any difference in light intensity from 12V bulbs VS 6V bulbs if I were to restore to a 6V system?
