Ever IH mechanic swore the partman gave him the wrong o-ring the first time he tried to install it. Coat the o-ring with a little grease, work around the circumference of the o-ring in both directions, pushing it back toward your starting point, when you meet on the opposite side you will have a small loop of o-ring out side of the groove (1/4" loop). Push on the top of this arch and it should pop down into the groove. The secret is the right amount of grease, to much takes up space, to little will not hold the oring in place. Good luck.
