Thank you for your response. Access is pretty good as I have already split the engine from the bell housing. I can get a pair of stilsons on the cap and it will turn, but the casting into which it appears to fit also turns! Am I right in thinking that the cap (plug) to be removed is just what appears to be a 2" diameter x 1/4" thick cap? Is it a friction fit, i.e. was it simply hammered in? I appreciate your assistance.
