On my 1957 450 Farmall the drain pipe was about seven inchs long, if you do decide to pull the radiator you will either have to cut the bottom of the fan shroud out to clear the fan blade or take it off (four 5 inch bolts held mine on and the'll more than likely be rusted) the reason I say this is because you'll have to pull radiator stright up out of the hole with the pipe and I hope someone didn't install a larger than the hole drain cap because if they did and you can't remove it your in trouble. On mine I can remove the bottom radiator hose and the drain pipe is exposed right there inside, squirt it with WD-40 or some other corrosion remover and think positive. Ken Harris

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
