I am in the process of converting my H over to 12volts and had some questions about the lights. I understand I need to replace the 6 volt lights or bulbs. I put in a #1156 12 volt bulb for testing, it works but is intended to be a signal/back up light so probably isn’t bright enough for a headlight. Does anyone know what bulb is typically used in the conversion? Is there an enclosed lens, bulb, reflector pan light that will fit right in? My reflector pan is pretty dull and corroded, I doubt it will do much reflecting.
Also, I saw a picture on the front of an OEM magazine that showed a light bar mounted to the front of a Farmall, were these intended to be mounted on either the steering pedestal or the grill or was someone just getting creative?
Ok, as long as you are still reading, I thought it might be save to throw in another 6 volt/ 12 volt conversion question, as others have stated in the past the 1970’s GM 55amp alternator just doesn’t fit under the hood. Luckily I think I can return it, but I need to come up with a smaller alternator option, suggestions?
