One of the M's I rescued this last fall Was originally a distillate model and still has most of the stuff (including flat top pistons) to go back. The main thing missing is the original manifold. It has a gasoline manifold and I'm not sure about the carb, haven't checked the tag yet.
I was toying with the idea of doing some experimenting with the dual fuel setup and I noticed that some of the newer aftermarket manifolds have a lot surface area where the intake and exhaust share a wall. It looks roughly comparable to what the distillate manifolds had although I've only seen the photos in the manuals and photo archive books. I know the originals had the adjustable baffle.
I'm wondering if the aftermarket manifolds would get hot enough to work with a heavier fuel. I'm guessing here as I don't recall ever seeing a factory distillate manifold in person (I assume since so many were converted to gasoline) at a tractor show or anywhere.
Has anyone seen one lately? Have they all been sent to China in little pieces and made into Harbor Freight tools?

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
