I've got a silly question. I just bought a 450 diesel the other day. I thought it was cool, so I bought it. I haven't been around too many gas start diesels, I'm wondering how it should sound. On gas, it runs smooth. On diesel, it almost sounds as if it putts. It seems to pull good from a stop in 5th gear, seems overall to run good. Is that just how they sound? Also, my muffler don't have a baffle in it. I plan on getting one from IH with a baffle. Is this why I think it sounds funny? Halfway across the yard, it almost sounds like a JD at an Idle. But, as I was trying to pull start a JD today, running it at half or more throttle it sounded pretty smooth... Sorry If I sound nuts, I'm just wondering from other gas start diesel owners if this sounds similiar.
