mkirsh,Yes you are correct in your thought process. I am not advocating to lift the tractor tire a foot off the floor only 1 to 2 inches! You only want to just inch the piston up as the piston and cylinder turns loose. If you are not comfortable using a floor jack through the entire process wait till the fire starts to go out then apply some pressure. Or don't, just wait till the fire is completely out and use a 4x4 and a 4 lb hammer. The heat from the fire is the Key. Work the method what ever way you are most comfortable with. Just be Safe, OBSERVE GOOD FIRE SAEFTY! Later, John A.
