Try hooking the charger to a battery that is known to be connected correctly--your car or pickup. See if the "reverse polarity" light comes on. If it does, the charger has problems. If not, was the battery completely discharged when you charged it in the first place. Even though the batt. was just about flat, you would have known the charger was hooked up wrong. I've heard of batts. being charged opposite of normal, but the batt. was COMPLETELY flat.
