I had similar problems. I assume the engine is tuned up and valves/compression are okay. Ended up replacing Intake/exhaust manifold, gasket, and studs. Do you have the combination Gasoline/ Kerosene manifold set up? In my case I converted to straight gas. I had trouble with Champion plugs too. I wondered if they changed the heat range but not the number. Shifted to AC a hotter plug and that solved my problems. This is an aggrevating problem, but you will be well rewarded for your efforts.
