The difference between a 39 and early 40 Farmalls are radical. Compromising the facts with wishing it were the earlier tractor just makes no sense to me. The early tractors had Duz fasteners on the hood and nose sheet metal. They had a slot in the platform for a seat pipe, and other components like non standard PTO shaft. If it is a mutt, just leave it as it is. If you get the correct components with reasonable production casting dates, building a non authentic, but good faith tractor would deserve a new plate on the housing. These are just my two cents worth of integrity. Jim
