Paul, I have a 53 H and have done this twice. The seal is accessable from inside the belly pump. You will need to drop the pump, split it, remove the shaft from the bearing, then you can replace the seal. The last time I did this I replaced both seals, one bearing, and the case gasket. If you have an I & T Manual, it shows the procedure very well. If not, I could fax you the two pages.
