..speaking of primers, I dropped in at a local PPG auto paint store to decide on a primer/paint system. I bought a sort of expensive 2 - part primer to go with their 2- part top coat. I want to do a nice job on the ole' gal. Haven't started yet but what a pain in the neck this is going to be - my original plan was to strip, scrape, wire brush and blast the various parts, prime as I go then top coat every thing all at once. I guess my thinking on the topcoat was ok, but I think I'm going to go through a lot of $84/gal primer doing small batches. The stuff has a shelf life of 2 hours at best once you mix it up! These plans are all contingent on my being able to stop playing with my toy long enough to do it.
