Ok guys, here's one for ya,

I have two '55 300 row crops. I think one of them might have an H, or Super H motor in it. One has the number 362743R2 cast under the number 4 spark plug (all the way to the back)and C-169 just under that. The serial number is located below the number 3 spark plug and is 8251. The serial number on the tractor is 8248. The date code is 2 18 A. I'm pretty sure this is the motor that the tractor came out of the factory with.

Now to the other tractor. The number 6695-DG is cast under the number 4 plug and I V is cast below that. The serial number is below the number 1 plug and is E or F ( can't make the first letter out)BH59535. The date code is 2 14 K. The serial number on the tractor is 4277 - a '55 model.

Now for the questions. Is the motor in the first tractor correct?, and can someone translate the date code for me? Where did the motor in the second tractor come from?, and what is the date code on it.

Hope you guys can help me solve this puzzle.

Thor

Today's Featured Article - An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership, ... [Read Article]
