I have some info to offer, and a question.
My 1931 Regular is converted to rubber tires. Drop-center 16" rims were welded to the front spoke stubs. Works fine, but a pain to change tires. I set out to swap my Regular's front wheels for a set of hubs which I think must have come from an F-20, with a standard 6-lug Ag pattern so I can easily remove rims to fix flats.. The bearings are the same, everything fits.
The bearings themselves on both my old converted wheels and the donor hubs are shot. Couple parts had IHC numbers, couple Timken. For everyone's future reference, I believe the following to be current usable numbers for the bearings:
Inner cone Timken 447 Inner Cup Timken 432 Outer Cone Timken 3379 Outer Cup Timken 3320
Here is my question. The inner seal is a felt, contained in a drawn cup in the inner hub bore, and runs against a radius on the spindle.
Has anyone come up with a retrofit to use better seals here?
